On Saturday 19th February 2022 we have the fantastic opportunity to host Med Soc Live (previously Operating Theatre Live) at PHSG. There are only 4 weeks left to book tickets and secure your space at this sought after student experience.

For the first time, this event will be open to anyone over the age of 14 (from Year 9) both internally to Plymouth High School students and family, as well as externally to the public/other schools.

The event operates in such a way that is appeals to students considering both medicine, dentistry and veterinary science as well as those considering: nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, occupational therapy, pharmacology, biomedical science and sport science or anyone who has an overall interest in anatomy and biology.

This event gives people the chance to complete dissections beyond the scope of the curriculums currently studied at either GCSE or A-level Science. Students have the opportunity to participate in the dissection of real organ specimens include a head and brain, lungs and heart as well as a digestive tract showcasing the stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and intestines.  The day is rigorously academic with students receiving an award-winning insight into how the body works and the challenges faced by the next generation of medical professionals.  All of the content is carefully matched to the main GCSE, A-level & BTEC specifications and is relevant to the study students are undertaking in the classroom.

Students who attended the previous event found it thoroughly enjoyable, insightful and a fantastic experience to talk about upon application for future careers or courses.

The full day (10am – 4.30pm) will be split into 8 topics, tickets can be purchased to cover either topic 1-4 (10am-2pm) or 1-8 (10-4.30pm).  The ticket price for the shortened day is £69 and the full day at £99.
