The Teen Queens are heading to a stage near you!
‘Six-Teen Edition’ will be performed in the Newman Hall on Tuesday 28th February to Friday 3rd March starting at 7pm and running for 1hour 20mins with no interval. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets can now be purchased on Parent Pay for £7 each.
Usually, a cast of just six actors, ‘Six- Teen Edition’ has been expanded to include ensemble singing and choreography. We will have a cast of over 50 students with 12 actors sharing the principal roles of Aragon, Boleyn, Seymour, Cleves, Howard and Parr. A further 12 actors play the ‘Haus of Holbein’ team with everyone else backing up a queen for each musical number.
The musical aims to provide a different perspective on the six queens of Henry VIII separate from their status as ‘wives’. It gives female historical figures a voice to tell their own experiences- experiences that have, in the past, predominantly been told by men. ‘Six’ aims to show that even 500 years later, there are still parallels to be found in the female experience. We aim to show that women can tell stories together that are interesting, engaging, clever, and funny.
The team rehearse every lunchtime and come together as a company on Monday evenings. We are now entering the exciting final phase of the rehearsal process where the acting, singing, choreography, lighting, sound and costume all finally come together as one glorious whole, working seamlessly together. It has been over 3 years since the students have been able to showcase their talent and perform to our PHSG Community. It will be a very entertaining evening, and we can't wait to welcome the audience back into school.
