Exciting times for Hummingbird!

After the thrill of last year’s fantastic results at Goodwood where we came 21st in the world, the big news for 2024 is that our amazing sponsors, Becton Dickinson (BD), have gifted us a second car for this season to build, design and race!

Our first meeting of the season was held on the 26th of January, when around 30 new recruits from year 7 – 9, along with twenty returning members from the older year groups, joined us to hear what was in store for our two cars this racing year.

Since then, we have started the construction of our second car, and have split our group into two teams. Team members are working on new designated areas including drivers, branding, and media. These groups will be working hard alongside our original sub-groups of hammers and spanners, performance, and comms.

The first race of the season is in May – just for the original Hummingbird, as the new car will be constructed as part of enrichment week activities. We’ve also got lots of exciting racing opportunities right across the South West throughout the season and as always, our goal is to once again qualify for the finals at Goodwood.

Thanks to BD for their support and to parents and carers too. We cannot wait to update you through the year on what we are up to.
