Book Quiz

Yesterday we started the celebrations with a book themed quiz in the library where we saw 50 students (and some teachers) from different year groups battle it out for first place. There were two general knowledge rounds with a mix of contemporary and classic fiction questions. The third round was a picture round showing well known book covers with their titles blanked out and students needed to guess the name of the book. This round proved to be quite tricky but it was great to see everyone getting so involved with trying to figure out the answers.

The final scores revealed that there was a tie, so Miss Harris had to bring out the tie-breaker question. The top two teams from year 7 and year 10 were asked “how many different languages has Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone been translated into?” To our surprise, the year 10 team knew the exact answer – 73 languages, and took home the first prize!

Book Costume Day

Today has seen students and staff from across the school dress up as their favourite book characters. As readers, young and old, dive into the fantastical worlds crafted by their favourite authors, they are also stepping into the shoes, or rather costumes, of beloved characters.

This event is not just a chance to showcase their favourite characters, but also an opportunity to cultivate a love for literature.

Characters came together at break time for a 'best costume design' competition.
