Food & Nutrition students get a Royal Navy visit
On Tuesday 2nd July we had the opportunity to welcome two chefs from the Royal Navy to work with some of our GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students. They learnt about possible career options within the Navy, as well as being set a cooking challenge.
The students were divided into teams, and given just 1 hour and 15 minutes to make Chicken Kiev with Fondant Potatoes, and Fruit Pavlovas – all from scratch!
They were given some hints and tips to improve their cookery techniques, as well as guidance on presentation.
Prizes were awarded for best main course and best dessert, but it was incredibly difficult to pick a winner as the standard across the board was incredibly high.
Our visitors were extremely complimentary about the conduct of our learners and are keen to return next year to offer the opportunity to others.
Well done to everyone involved!
