Students at Plymouth High School for Girls are celebrating receiving their GCSE results

Students and staff at Plymouth High School for Girls are celebrating today as they receive their GCSE grades.

Plymouth High is pleased to see a year of strong results and congratulates students and staff for the hard work they have put in over the last few years. A quarter of all GCSEs achieved were at the top two grades and 46% of results were at grade 7 or above.

The school saw particular success in subjects including French, Food, Geography, Design and technology, English and RE where more than 50% of all results were at grade 7 and above.

Whilst we are proud of all our young people, there were some standout results, these include;

  • Megan B who performed amazingly with eight GCSEs at Grade 9, three at grade 8 and 1 at grade 7
  • Annabelle O who achieved seven GCSEs at grade 9, two at grade 8 and one at grade 7
  • Sanskruti K received five GCSEs at grade 9 and three at grade 8
  • Saffron HW achieved five GCSEs at grade 9, three at grade 8 and 2 at grade 7
  • Jasmin HW recorded four GCSEs at grade 9 and six at grade 8

Collecting her GCSE results today, Grace SB said:

“My heart is still pounding but I feel really good, I’m really happy with how I have done, particularly in English literature”

Megan B added:

“I am really happy with my grades, especially in the subjects that I found hard. Thanks so much to all my teachers”

Sanskruti K said:

“I am so thankful, happy and elated that all my hard work has paid off. I am looking forward to studying maths, biology and chemistry next year”

And twins Ruby and Jasmin HW said they were surprised and glad that their hard work has paid off.

Ruby added “I am so pleased with my results and looking forward to my apprenticeship in Business Administration next year” whilst Jasmin concluded “I am delighted with my results and am and looking forward to my apprenticeship in Engineering next year”.

Simon Underdown, Headteacher at Plymouth High School for Girls said:

“Many of our young people achieved exceptional results today and that is testament to their hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of our students and know that they will move forward in their learning journey to achieve great things.

“Our student’s hard work and determination exemplify our motto, 'For life, not school, we learn'. It has been a pleasure working with such a wonderful group of young people.”

“I am grateful to our superb school staff and our supportive parents for all that has been achieved in helping our year 11 through their studies.”

“Whilst most of our year 11 will stay with us for their A levels, others will embark on a different path.  We wish all of our students the very best of luck and success in whatever they decide to do next.”
