Willow-Rose's Unstoppable Half Term: Football Triumphs Across the UK!

Willow-Rose of 7A is on a roll! After being re-selected for Plymouth Argyle’s Emerging Talent Centre for the second year and successfully making the Devon County team, Willow had a packed half-term with achievements to match. Here’s a rundown of her football-filled week!

  • Tuesday, 29th October
Willow kicked off her half-term playing for Plymouth Argyle ETC against Exeter, where she and her teammates triumphed in both games.

  • Thursday, 31st October
Next, Willow joined Elburton Villa (a team loaded with her Argyle and Devon teammates) to play in a festival hosted by Tottenham Hotspur in London. Willow’s team swept the board, winning all six games against two Spurs teams and London ETC teams – a fantastic display!

  • Friday, 1st November – The Canary Cup
After the London festival, Willow headed straight to Norwich to represent Devon FA in the Canary Cup. Determined to better last year’s runner-up result, Willow and her team dominated their group, taking down Peterborough, Colchester, and Nottingham Forest. In the semi-final, they put in a powerhouse performance to beat Brighton & Hove Albion 4-0.

  • The grand final against Wolverhampton Wanderers was a nail-biting goalless game that went to penalties. With a brilliant sudden-death save by Devon’s goalkeeper, Willow and her team lifted the trophy – an unforgettable moment!

  • Saturday, 2nd November
After celebrating, Willow made a 4 a.m. journey home to join her grassroots team, Lakeside Athletic, for a semi-final match. Despite the early start, Willow showed no signs of slowing down, helping her team secure a 5-0 victory and a spot in the finals next May!

We’re incredibly proud of Willow for her dedication and achievements. Although she’s back in school now, the whirlwind week of football has caught up with her, so if she seems a bit tired, we totally understand! ⚽🌟
