Awards Evening 2024

On Wednesday 18th December, PHSG hosted its annual Awards Evening, a special occasion to celebrate the achievements of students. The event provided an opportunity for the 2023/24 Year 11 and Year 13 students to collect their national certificates and be recognised for their hard work.

The evening was a reflection of the school's commitment to excellence, showcasing achievements across academics, sports, the arts, and personal growth. Students, teachers, and families gathered to honour the dedication and perseverance that marked the academic year. High-achieving students from various subjects and year groups were praised for their commitment to learning, with their accomplishments serving as both recognition of individual efforts and motivation for others to strive for success.

The event was hosted by the Head Student Team, with Lauren Herd, a former student of Plymouth High School for Girls, as the guest speaker. Lauren, made a lasting impact during her time at school. She was the founder of the PHSG LGBTQIA+ Society. She worked tirelessly to create an inclusive space for students to express themselves. She co-founded the debate club, encouraging open discussion on important issues and helped others find their voice. Her dedication and inclusivity left a meaningful legacy in the school community. After completing her A-levels in Law, Psychology and History at Plymouth High in 2022, Lauren continued her education in reading Law at Downing College, University of Cambridge

Our Head of Sixth Form, Mr Alan Jenkins and Mr Duncan Law, Head of Year 11, presented the school awards, including the prestigious Jean Hooper Student of Excellence Award, which was awarded to Elise Walsh.

The evening was more than just an awards ceremony—it was a celebration of the spirit of excellence that defines PHSG. As students and their families left the event, they carried with them a sense of pride and inspiration, cherishing the memories of a night that truly honoured their achievements.
