PHSG Celebrates Leadership and House Shield Winners in Final Assembly
Today marked a special occasion at Plymouth High School for Girls (PHSG) as the school gathered for the final assembly of the term, celebrating leadership and the announcement of the House Shield winner. The assembly not only acknowledged the dedication of our student leaders, but also witnessed the passing of the baton from the outgoing Head Student Team to the incoming one.
Student leadership is a core pillar of our philosophy at PHSG, and the Head Student Team plays a vital role in shaping our school culture. They are the driving force behind major events, initiatives, and regular publications, ensuring that student voices are heard at all levels of the school.
Throughout the year, the Head Students have contributed to numerous projects, from hosting school events to producing a magazine filled with student-written articles. These leaders meet frequently with the Headteacher, ensuring that the perspectives of the student body are truly valued and considered.
Today, the outgoing Head Students delivered heartfelt speeches, reflecting on their time in leadership and their experiences working to make the school a better place.
The final assembly was also a time to acknowledge the House system, a proud tradition at PHSG. The House system fosters a sense of community and healthy competition amongst the students.
Each of the four Houses—Anthony, Kendall, Latimer, and Temple—are named after significant figures associated with the school, and each House has its own distinct colour.
Throughout the year, students earn House points for participation and achievement in a wide range of school activities and events. These points accumulate over time, with the House accumulating the most points at the end of the year, taking home the prestigious House Shield.
