PHSG Celebrates World Book Day: A Celebration of Stories, Costumes & Creativity!

Yesterday, our school was transformed into a literary wonderland as students of all ages dressed up as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day! From classic heroes to unexpected surprises, the corridors were filled with wizards, villains, and even a giant walking revision guide!

Best Dressed Winner: Gwen (7L) as Effie Trinket

With her flamboyant outfit, powdered face, and an "May the odds be ever in your favour" at the ready, Gwen stole the show as Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games! Her dazzling costume and spot-on impression earned her the Best Dressed Award—along with a book voucher to fuel her love of reading.

Other Standout Costumes:

📖 Chloe(11K) was almost unrecognisable as The Mad Hatter from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland! With her whimsical hat and eccentric outfit, she truly brought the tea-loving trickster to life.

📚 Grace (10T) had the most unexpectedly hilarious costume of the day—she came dressed as the CGP man from the famous revision guides! Covered in bold fonts, silly jokes, and revision notes, she was a walking reminder that exams are never far away… (Thanks, Grace?)

A huge well done to everyone who took part—whether you went in full costume or just added a literary touch, your creativity made the day unforgettable! House points were awarded to all participants, so well done for showing your bookish spirit.

A Special Thanks to Our Amazing Library Team!

World Book Day wasn’t just about dressing up—our fantastic library team organised a whole week of book-related events, from quizzes and competitions to reading challenges and author spotlights. Their hard work and enthusiasm made the week a huge success—so a big thank you to them for making reading fun for everyone!

We can’t wait to see what costumes next year brings—start planning now! Who knows? Maybe we’ll see a giant dictionary, a roaming Shakespeare, or even a live-action Percy Jackson?

Happy reading, everyone! 📖✨
