Plymouth High will join people across the nation at Midday today to remember those lost to COVID-19
There will be a national minute's silence at midday to mark the one year anniversary since the first coronavirus lockdown was announced.
The nation is to pause in remembrance of those who have died during the coronavirus pandemic, one year after the UK announced its first lockdown. This national day of reflection has been organised by the end-of-life charity Marie Curie.
A minute’s silence will be held at 12pm and people are being encouraged to stand on their doorsteps at 8pm with phones, candles and torches to signify a “beacon of remembrance”.
More than 147,000 people have died from Covid-19 in the UK since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest government data.
On March 23, 2020, when the first lockdown started, that figure was 335.
