Zoe, Year 13 praised for her German essay
Well done to Zoe, Year 13 for being shortlisted in the Cambridge University Languages essay competition.
Not only this, but Dr Hoegger of Cambridge University praised her personally for her elegant use of German as well as her sophisticated analysis of the novel “Der Vorleser” which she is studying for A level German. Guilt is the central theme of this German language novel, in which Schlink focuses on the individual guilt of the main characters, and the collective guilt of Germany in the aftermath of the Holocaust. Zoe is one of 27 to be shortlisted out of the 150 entries.
Zoe is also to be praised as she has shown great independence in taking the initiative to enter this competition when details were circulated to the Sixth Form, and worked entirely on her own on this piece. Many congratulations!
