Year 7 Resistant Materials Project
Year 7s have finally been able to get in our A20 workshop room and get to grips with tools and they have absolutely loved it!
The project started with designing a tealight holder in CorelDraw CADCAM software - lots of designing/drawing skills and new software skills learned.
While their designs were being laser cut it was time to get into the workshop and learn about using machines and tools safely. They were then able to design and make a wood critter using scraps of wood, screws, nuts, bolts and washers, and using many different tools.
Once their tealights had been cut out it was time to glue them together and then ensure they were sanded to a smooth finish.
What a busy few weeks! So many different new skills have been learned which will stand them in good stead for future Design and Technology projects at PHSG.
