PHSG New Joiners
September 2022 will see the arrival of three new joiners for PHSG. Let's meet our new team members.
During the Spring Term, PHSG recruited new staff for the new academic year. Following a rigorous recruitment process, we are delighted to have recruited such excellent staff, and we are looking forward to welcoming them into the team, starting today. We are excited for you to meet them, and we have a sneaky preview below of whom the new staff are, a little about themselves and what our students can expect from them.
Miss Lowenna Jones - PE Teacher
What attracted you to PHSG?
This school is very iconic, it is a lovely building with lots of history. The staff and students are so wonderfully friendly, and they have a great PE department with lots of opportunities for the students.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Meeting new people, for sure. I can't wait to get stuck in and teaching new and different aspects of PE and Dance.
What makes you different and approachable?
I believe I am a very approachable person, friendly and always here to support colleagues and students.
What advice do you give the students who will have classes with you?
Work hard and you will get good results. Don't be afraid to try new things and don't give up.
Mrs Nicola Ilott - English Teacher
What attracted you to PHSG?
For the chance to work in a forward-thinking, exciting environment, and use my skills in the same type of environment that I was educated in, in Kent.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Getting to know all the students!
What makes you different and approachable?
I have a genuine passion for teaching. I do have quite firm boundaries, but create a caring, safe learning environment.
What advice do you give the students who will have classes with you?
Work hard, play hard...and breathe!
Miss Kate Wakeling - Mathematics Teacher
What attracted you to PHSG?
The chance to work at a Grammar School is hugely exciting for me. Having the opportunity to share my passion for Maths with young women and be able to stretch their knowledge and understanding of the subject.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Most definitely meeting all of my classes.
What makes you different and approachable?
I was also a student at an all-girls school. I love the atmosphere you get when girls come together to achieve a common goal, a life without limits! I also understand the challenges it can bring during our teenage years, and I hope my experience can help the students with navigating their way through.
What advice do you give the students who will have classes with you?
Always try your best and enjoy Maths!
Mr Kasim Langmead - Deputy Headteacher
