PHSG hosts dissection workshop
On Monday 17th July Year 9-12 students from across the city visited Plymouth High School to take part in hands on dissection to complete the Anatomy Lab experience.
During the day students were able to see first hand how organs connect together within an organism and practise their manual dexterity by removing and dissecting individuals’ parts.
Students went on to discover the role of the post-mortem and the signs and clues that the individual organs can play in diagnosing disease or cause of death.
A first for many, students were able to dissect the thorax as a whole system to investigate the role of the vocal chords and the dangers of suffocation from the inside.
A great day was had by all students and gave them a true appreciation of the intricacies of the mammalian system.
