Ocean Studios in Plymouth

One of the highlights of our Summer School program at Ocean Studios is The Sustainable Summer Sewing School. Participants will explore the design process, from mood boarding and shape analysis to draping and basic pattern cutting. The workshop culminates with a small-scale fashion show.

In addition, we offer the Summer School Creative Printmaking Program a fantastic opportunity for children to dive into a world of imagination and explore a wide variety of printmaking techniques. These workshops will not only ignite their artistic flair but also foster their problem-solving skills and self-expression.

• July Session: 24th - 28th July, 9.30am to 12.30pm
• August Session: 21st - 26th August, 9.30am to 12.30pm
• £25 per person per workshop (all materials provided)
• Age: 8-16 years old
• Lunch bolt-on option: £5.50 per person, 12.30pm to 1.30pm, including a sandwich, snack and a drink

We’re delighted to be releasing our summer programme for 2023. With an array of immersive dome experiences to choose from, you’ll never be searching for something to do with your family.

Soar into outer space, journey through the oceans, or if you’re brave enough, embrace the icy conditions in some of the coldest parts of our planet! At 10am and 12pm each day, we’ll have a 360° fulldome show waiting for you.

If you’re looking for something more hands-on, why not try one of our Junior Workshops? Each are suitable for children aged from 8 – 12 years old, and are available either as a 2-hour workshop, or as a taster day.

Workshop Details:

• LEGO Robotics:
  • Using LEGO Spike Essential, this taster session will introduce your children to the world of coding. Using a range of motors, sensors and lights, your children will design, build and code their own creation.
  • Wednesday 9th & 23rd August from 10:30am – 12:30pm.
  • £15 per child, or £20 including 2 hours parent co-work.
• 360° Filmmaking:
  • A chance for your child to join others to explore and create with this cutting edge technology, and to see their work on our stunning 15-metre, 360° immersive dome – the only one of it’s kind in Europe.
  • Wednesday 9th & 23rd August from 1pm – 3pm.
  • £15 per child, or £20 including 2 hours parent co-work.
• Taster Day: LEGO Robotics & 360° Filmmaking:
  • The best of both!
  • Wednesday 2nd, 16th & 30th August from 10:30am – 3pm.
  • £35 per child, or £45 including 4½ hours parent co-work.
