Guidance

While no staff member can be compelled to give medical treatment to a pupil/student, it is hoped that the support given through parental consent, the support of the City Council through these guidelines and the help of the School Medical Services will encourage them to see this as part of the pastoral role.

• The Head Teacher (or their nominee) will only administer medicines prescribed by a doctor.
• This form below should be completed by the parent, guardian or person with parental responsibility for the pupil/student and delivered with the medication to the SEN Medical Administrator (or a nominated person), before any medicine will be administered.
• The medicine should be in date and clearly labelled with:
  • Its contents
  • The owner’s name
  • Dosage and frequency
  • Name of prescribing doctor

The information requested, is in confidence, to ensure that the school is fully aware of the medical needs of your child.

If you would like to discuss any requirements in further detail, please contact the SEN Medical Administrator.

Where such arrangements fail, it is the parents’ responsibility to make appropriate alternative arrangements.

Vaccinations

A polite reminder from the immunisation team at Kernow Health.

Following our recent school visit for all adolescent vaccinations (HPV, Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio booster and Meningitis ACWY Vaccinations), if your child wasn't vaccinated, and we had consent to see them, please look out for an email from us with a link to book a clinic appointment.   If you have not yet completed consent and wish to do so, please contact us on 01392 342678 and we can assist you with a clinic booking.

School Nurse

School Nurses are public health nurses who will work with 5 to 19 year olds. They give confidential advice, care and treatment to children and young people and work with parents and carers in Schools, homes, Children’s Centres and other community settings.

Working to improve the health and wellbeing of this age group as well as identifying anyone who needs early help, School Nurses can also help with conversations between health services and education.
