Hello everyone! This term has started off in an unexpected way to say the least, however, as a team, we’ve each been busy and are so proud of our achievements so far. I’m delighted to say that the Spring 2021 issue of Hear Me Out, the school magazine, is out now! I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this issue of the magazine, both putting it together and reading the incredible articles people have written, as well as admiring the fantastic art. Thank you to everybody who has gotten involved, and I would encourage you all to take a look at the magazine which is available on the website. Finally, now that we’re starting to settle back into school, I want to remind you to take care of yourselves and remember to look out for those around you, it’s been a difficult time and it’s important that we all stick together.

Hi everyone! I am pleased to tell you that we have been busy working on multiple projects, which you will start seeing around the school (and hopefully getting involved with). I am proud to say that the Student Council is working hard on projects that will ensure you are as well supported as possible, in terms of mental health and general wellbeing/advice, within the school and have met to discuss these brilliant opportunities - I was extremely happy with everyone’s contributions! I would like to thank all of the Student Council for their enthusiasm and wonderful ideas, which will contribute towards future projects, they have all been amazing so far! Keep an eye out for exciting opportunities coming soon, where you can help support other students to ensure we all feel happy and safe in our everyday school environment. As well as this, I encourage you all to have a look at the amazing school magazine, a massive well done to everyone who was involved. Remember to take care of yourselves, your families and your friends, we are all going through these strange times together.

Hello! I’m delighted to announce the charities PHSG will be supporting in 2021, Barnados HYPE and Teenage Cancer Trust. Both are charities that we as a team and as a school feel strongly about supporting. The first Charity Ambassador Meeting of the year (over zoom) was a great success, with the ambassadors and I discussing some really exciting fundraising projects we hope to act upon over the course of the next year. Beyond Charity Work, as a Head Student Team we’ve been looking into developing wellbeing initiatives and this is something I look forward to developing more as we continue our work this year. If you want to stay updated on the work we are doing, make sure to follow our instagram, @phsgheadstudents, for regular updates on what we’ve been up to around school. Please make sure you are kind to yourselves and others as we continue through this difficult year, and make sure to take time to look after yourself regularly.

Hi all! Despite the unusual start to this school year, I am happy to say that our diversity and inclusively group has made significant progress since January. Our main long-term aim of amending and updating the PSHE curriculum has been achieved and we will see this come into effect in September. Hopefully, this will develop PSHE lessons into a more inclusive and safe environment for students to express themselves and their opinions. After the Easter break, we hope to see two display boards pop up in the school. Their aim is to promote inclusively and diversity in our school; one will be in the library and the other by the Newman Hall. Our amazing journalism team has published an article on what we’re doing in the magazine, so I suggest you check it out! Finally, covid-permitting, we are hoping to put on a cultural event to celebrate our differences and the wonderful cultures that exist within our school community. With so many things coming up, we hope you all are as excited as we are! In the meantime, it is really important that you take care of yourselves and check up on your friends. If you have any questions or queries, you can email our diversity group at diversity@phsg.org.
